Wild Edge Retreat comprises four contemporary and luxuriously appointed Spa and Private Pool Spa Pavilions, each designed to receive maximum advantage of the exquisite views, while offering the ultimate in privacy and comfort. Connected by raised timber boardwalks, each of the architecturally designed Spa and Private Pool Spa Pavilions seem to float effortlessly above the trees and landscape below. Here you will instantly defeat yourself in a world of romance, relaxation and indulgence. From the moment you enter through the gates you will feel the tension of new life dissolve and fall away. Guests and their luggage are conveyed from the car park to their luxury Spa or Pool Spa Pavilion in an electric, motorized cart, via the raised timber walkways. Other properties may have tried to emulate our unique concept, but none can match our lofty standards, elegant appointments, genuine hospitality and truly breathtaking vistas. During the day, a myriad of the local native wildlife visit our gardens and can be observed fairly closely. The slow afternoon brings another dimension to the retreat, as breathtaking sunsets unfold, and what better way to relax than on your own private deck with a glass of regional wine, where you can Cavour the exquisite sounds and aromas of the Australian bush, or in Winter, curl up in fore of your cony log fire as you gaze at the mist shrouded forests and valleys below. As twilight falls, the forest is transformed into an entrancing nighttime vista. This is when many of our other native animals become active and you will be entertained by scampering possums, bandicoots, wonderful frog symphonies, or possibly our resident Wombat. In the darkness of the night night, all senses are heightened beneath a brilliant starlit sky where, on definite nights, the Milky Way and shooting stars will enchant you with their mesmerizing display. Wollombi, established in the premature 19th century in a fertile sheltered landscape, was a normal trivial colonial rural township of its time. Farmers, Kooris, convicts, bush rangers and many others who struggled to carve out a living in the bush, shared the surrounding valleys, and the echo of their lives can be heard in the beautifully preserved town of today. As you wander through the village receive time to look at some of our dazzling sandstone buildings, built prior 1860. Housed in the historic worn outhouse building, the museum displays an interesting collection from our wealthy colonial former in the Cessnock and Wollombi region. When visiting the lovely Wollombi area, you don't have to travel far to experience some immense local wines. The Wollombi Wine Follow will receive you to six of our local boutique wineries where you can sample the flavors of local handmade wines in a relaxing and friendly environment where you will often get to confront the winemaker and owner of the vineyard who will give you a intriguing insight into the specifics of the characteristics and production of their wines. A huge remote small winery with space to relax and appreciate your picnic hamper! Picnickers are welcome to enjoy the clam setting around the cellar door. Mill brook Estate create hand crafted table wines made from conventional Hunter grape varieties and style. They also provide specialty wines such as fortified liqueurs, liqueur brandy, chili wine and lemonchella. The unsealed roads are not relevant for lowered vehicles.
